CBD

CBD stands for cannabidiol, a compound found in hemp and cannabis plants. CBD supports many of your body’s natural processes. People have been using CBD as medicine for hundreds of years, but it has only recently become more accessible. The hemp and cannabis plants have many compounds in the same category as CBD - the category is called “cannabinoids,” and each cannabinoid compound offers unique benefits. CBD is the all-purpose player of the cannabinoid team: it supports your overall health, it is safe and effective, and it doesn’t get you high.

CBD (and other cannabinoids) stimulate your body’s natural endocannabinoid system, which is involved in many internal processes in your body. Most of these processes are related to maintaining balance - so CBD helps your body support whatever is out of balance.

Just like yourself - your best self. On our team, we talk about softening our sharpest pain points (physically and mentally) so we can take a stressful day in stride more easily. The best effect of CBD is easing your sharpest points so much that you forget you needed CBD’s support! This author sometimes forgets to take her daily softgels and is fiercely reminded when her joint pain returns…

Oh, and CBD won’t get you high! That’s THC, a different cannabinoid. Sorry!

CBD is a natural alternative to a range of medications. Growing research on CBD supports what people have known for years: it can provide relief for better sleep, pain, stress, and more. At Commons, we want to work with you on the best way to integrate CBD into your lifestyle.

We’ve seen CBD be helpful in a variety of cases. The most common reasons people take CBD are to: 1. Reduce pain 2. Improve sleep 3. Ease the jitters

Depends on you. Some people are much more sensitive than others. Most people who have tried CBD before but not felt anything just didn’t take enough.

This is one of the most common questions we get, but it can also be the most difficult. We always suggest starting low and graduating higher. It’s important to know that it takes a couple of usages to understand the benefits of CBD. Figuring out how much you should take is more of an art than a science.

While any CBD product you purchase will come with its own dose guidelines, experiences can vary. The ideal CBD dose for you usually depends primarily on your body weight, but it can also be influenced by other factors, such as your personal body chemistry, your age, and any other health conditions you have.

Unfortunately, because it is not yet regulated by the FDA, no official dosing guidelines for CBD exist. However, for a general rule of thumb, consider using between 1mg (lower dose) and 6mg (higher dose) of CBD for every 10lbs of your body weight.

We have a big range of CBD sensitivity on our HQ team! We take anywhere from 20mg weekly to ease stress to 400mg daily to help manage chronic pain.

There is no real danger of overdosing with CBD. The general consensus among professionals and even the World Health Organization is that in extremely large doses (like 10,000mg), CBD is likely to cause extreme drowsiness, lethargy, upset stomach, and other unpleasant or disorienting side effects, but not death. Additionally, CBD is one of the only substances deemed by the WHO to have no major side effects or risk of dependency.

Ambassadors

A Commons ambassador is an independent consultant who has access to Commons resources and earns commission through selling Commons products. We are constantly building our resource library for Ambassadors so that they can bring you the most up to date research and product information. Ambassadors are ready to help you improve your health in the best way that works for you. If you’re interested in being an Ambassador, learn more here. If you’d like us to connect you with an Ambassador in your area, please reach out!

You become an ambassador buy buying an enrollment kit, which gives you access to backoffice resources, provides you with a personal link to share with your friends, and lets you earn commission when friends shop through your personal link!

You can buy an enrollment kit here.

After you buy your enrollment kit, you have 7 days to make a heavily-discounted purchase of products to try.

At checkout, you can select the ambassador you’re shopping with. The ambassador you select will get credit for sharing Commons with you and may earn commission. This is what we’re talking about when we talk about Ambassadors’ sales. When you place an order, we (Commons) handle the fulfillment and shipping, as well as any customer service help you might need. The ambassador who gets credit for your sale will be notified of your purchase so they can check in with you and help you figure out how to best use CBD.

That depends on how much they sell! Base commission is 20% on one-time orders and 10% on subscription orders and fulfillments (although subscriptions end up being lucrative because they are consistent over time)! Beyond that, ambassadors can earn bonuses when they sell more or when ambassadors they’re mentoring sell more.

Unfortunately, no. We never adjust the ambassador attribution after an order happens! You can follow your friend’s personal shopping link again so your browser remembers that you want to shop through her, or you can be sure to select her name at checkout next time.

Products & Safety

We test thoroughly! Safety is a huge concern in the CBD industry because the industry is largely unregulated. The hemp plant is grown, CBD is extracted from the plant, and then CBD is used to manufacture a product. Each of those steps requires testing! For example: the hemp and cannabis plants naturally absorb more heavy metals from the soil than other plants typically do, so we need to make sure we’re getting all the good and none of the bad during the extraction step.

We share the test results of the final products on each product page and update these according to the batch that is currently shipping. So if you order a product, you can see exactly what you’re getting - straight from the lab.

The truth is: getting really safe CBD is an expensive hassle so many brands just don’t do it, but we’ve worked this into our pricing and will only ever bring you the best.

Commons takes pride in our world-class supply chain. We work with top partners across the country who extract our CBD and formulate our products in licensed pharmaceutical grade facilities that are GMP certified (current Good Manufacturing Practices).

Most of our products are vegan! The Relief Stick and Salve required some beeswax for a much more effective texture, so they’re the exception. Beyond them, all our products are vegan.

We are watching the limited-but-growing research carefully to bring you a better answer on this soon. In the meantime, there isn’t a lot of research around CBD and pregnancy or breastfeeding, so always check with your doctor. You can count on us to bring you the safest CBD out there, and we’ll count on you to do what’s right for your body.

Yes. The 2018 farm bill legalized CBD at the federal level so long as it is extracted from hemp and contains less than 0.3% THC (as ours is and does).

The 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized production of hemp as an agricultural commodity, legalized the production of hemp-derived CBD. The Farm Bill removed hemp from the definition of marijuana that had been set by the Control Substances Act (CSA), redefining hemp as cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.) and derivatives of cannabis with extremely low concentrations of the psychoactive compound delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) (no more than 0.3% THC on a dry weight basis).
